Summer Programme 2024: home-based programme

A home-based summer programme is available for children with complex special educational needs where their schools are not providing a school-based programme.

The allocation of hours is 10 per week for four weeks, where a student is eligible and their school is not participating in a school-based programme or is not in a position to offer the student a place on a school-based programme.

Online Sanctioning Portal

For 2024, the Department is providing an online portal to allow schools to submit a student’s details and confirm eligibility. A sanction email will issue to the parents and school to confirm eligibility and the hours that have been allocated to the student.

Schools are asked to complete and support parents in submitting this application.

The link for the Online Sanctioning Portal will be circulated to schools by email and the Portal will remain open until Friday 14 June 2024.

Payment Information

Claim forms for the 2024 Home Based Summer Programme are currently being processed in the order of date of receipt and payments will issue on a fortnightly basis from 26 September 2024.

In order for staff to prioritise the processing of claim forms, it is not possible to provide an acknowledgement of individual claim forms or to indicate the status of the forms. If claim forms are completed correctly, they will be processed for payment. If there is a problem with a claim form, a member of the Summer Programme team will contact the parent or teacher/SNA for clarification or further information. Please note, however, that this may result in delays in issuing payment of these claims.
